Types of Braces

Braces include the bracket that individually adhere to each tooth. Sometimes bands, or rings are placed around the back teeth. The archwire is then attached to the braces using ties. These ties can be silver, coloured or clear.

Initially, some people may be more sensitive to the appliances and develop canker sores from irritation. During the initial adjustment period, learning to cope with swallowing may also be difficult. Wax is used to reduce irritation in areas of tenderness on your tongue and gums. Try to speak as much as possible to help you speak more clearly, and eat soft foods for the first few days.
