Dr. Melissa Parker

Biography

Dr Parker has shared her story many times about wanting to be a dentist from grade eight, when she fell off her skateboard and her dentist miraculously fixed her chipped tooth.

After graduating from dental school at the University of Toronto in 1988, Dr. Parker was selected to complete a one year dental residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. This fascinating experience allowed her to practice dentistry on hundreds of medically compromised children, whose special needs sometimes required operating room dentistry. She spent one month treating a northern Ontario aboriginal reserve and even delivered a baby during her stay. In addition, her residency was affiliated with the Hugh McMillan Centre and Bloorview Rehabilitation centre.

Dr Parker had a successful dental practice on Bay St. before embarking on her two year specialty training in orthodontics, which she completed at Loyola University in Chicago.
